The second of three high profile free agent signings this offseason, Lin-J Shell will bring plenty of interesting personal background to a secondary already oozing with personality. As the Florida native prepares for his first training camp with the reigning Grey Cup champions, he took time out to participate in BCLions.com’s According To… series and gives us some interesting perspective on things.
As in previous installments, Wagner Linzell Shell Jr. has been supplied a single word or short phrase (the bolded portion) the rest is all him.
My hometown is Orlando, Florida.
Working with young people is one way I can give back the blessings given to me. It makes a difference in my world to know I make a difference in theirs.
No one knows that I’m addicted to girl scout cookies and cartoons. SHHHHHHH, don’t tell nobody!
The move to Vancouver will start a new chapter in my life and football career. I can’t wait.
I’m inspired by my parents who taught me early to rise and late to bed. During this time work hard, play hard, and love every second of your blessings.
Someone once told me a wise man seeks council from many peers before making decisions. This has definitely proven true in my life.
Football has taught me that nothing is owed to anyone and being the underdog is a good position to be in, especially when you rise above those who doubt you. It also teaches you to enjoy every minute you can, because at any second it could be gone.
Florida is my heart and soul. Home of the classic cars on big rims, and country boys in big trucks. It’s also where the football gods live.
When in doubt I pray and ask for guidance and strength from the man upstairs. Then I give my best.
After football…WHAT? There’s life after football?!
I will never say never until I can predict the future. I also will never drive a smart car. LOL!
Toronto is a beautiful city and a second home with great fans. I hope to make them hate me for three hours when the Lions come to town!
Fixing up cars teaches you a little elbow grease goes a long way. Besides, why pay someone to do what you can do yourself?
Fans are the backbone of the CFL. Enough said. I love you guys!
I have always wanted to skydive, but I don’t really like heights so I will keep that one on the bucket list.
Getting a fortune cookie without a fortune in it still makes you think. I bet you're thinking about it right now.
My best game was a flag football game with the kids at the after school program. I scored three touchdowns on my elementary school kids and I’m their hero. LOL!
