Welcome once again. Only 25 days until training camp, and everyone has an opinion on who should be the BC Lions starting QB. A Lions season ticket holder sent me a note recently (thanks Allen) and likes both QBs but is leaning toward Super Buck. However, Allen has put the power in my hands for a short while by asking me who I want to see at the pivot. Ok here it is. Are you ready for the BIG inside secret? They BOTH will come into camp ready go and eager to show the coaches that they are the one to lead the BC Lions. We have the best case scenario. Two quarterbacks, one spot. As long as Jarious and Buck understand it’s not about them but it’s about the BC lions, we are going to be fine. With the two of them on our team, we are on the right track to get to the final game in November. They both will play, but the starter will be determined in training camp. I would go to war with either one.

I’m a very lucky guy because I have great friends who have helped me pull off a charity football camp (EliteFootball.org) for the past four years in Montreal. Elite Football brings in 100 athletes for a five-day football and life skills camp. The reason I am doing this camp is to help student athletes. I would like to give them the support and encouragement I craved at their age. I needed someone who understood my goals and could relate to the challenges I was facing as a student athlete. Now I am in a position to be that mentor to the next generation. Anthony Calvillo (Montreal QB), Luke Fritz (Montreal O-line) and I created the camp right about the time I signed with the Lions. I have been fortunate enough to travel back to Montreal each off-season to be part of this extraordinary event, but Luke and Anthony do all the hard work to organize it. This year, Anthony could not be as involved due to personal reasons and I’m too far away to contribute as much as I would like. So Luke put in all the time, energy and hard work to put together an amazing event. I would like to publicly thank Luke for all he did for the 2008 Elite Football Camp. The camp went well and the kids grew stronger on the field and off. We had several CFL guest coaches who selflessly volunteered their time and knowledge of the game. QB Jason Maas (EDM), Kevin Glenn (WPG), RBs Lyle Green (BC), OL Paul Lambert, and Scott Flory (MTL), DL Jerome Haywood (WPG), Randy Chevrier (CGY), LB Barrin Simpson (WPG), Javier Glatt (BC), DBs Lavar Glover, and Ryan Phillips (BC).

2008 Lions in the House is over and we finished with a bang. The program would not have been possible without ActNow BC. Thank you for the support and we look forward to working with you next year. Lions in the House touched over 15,000 students on topics such as bullying, continuing education, fitness/nutrition, and positive attitude. The kids heard story from players and how each of these topics played out in their lives.

Thanks for tuning in, and keep on sending me your questions. B-Miles out!
