BC LIONS TRAINING CAMP REPORT - DAY 3

(Vancouver) Steady rain made its training camp debut on Tuesday
morning as did wide receiver Paris Jackson. While Paris was a welcome
addition, the rain was not and the fields quickly slicked up through
the morning.
Quarterbacks Buck Pierce and Jarious Jackson continue to split the
majority of the snaps and both are enjoying consistent camps with Jason
Clermont and Geroy Simon finding themselves on the receiving end of
numerous passes in skelly and team situations. During the afternoon
session both Pierce and Jackson completed at least 80 percent of their
passes despite the steady rain.
With an eye on the conditions, head coach Wally Buono scratched
one-on-ones from the afternoon schedule but a 30-play team period
provided great action on both sides of the ball including an
interception by Donald Brown. The
first-year defensive back was escorted into the end zone by four other
defensive backs and 16 teammates from the sidelines. The play
momentarily quieted exasperated defensive coordinator Mike Benevides
after WR Dedrick
Poole torched the first-string defense two plays earlier.
Watching: Justin Shaw (LB - hamstring), slotback Ben Wilson (knee) and OL Andrew Jones (knee).
Best dressed(?) media member: TEAM 1040 reporter Kristin Reid sported
rubber boots this morning more likely to be seen in an elementary
school coatroom.
Food Fare: On the lunch menu Tuesday: whole wheat turkey swiss
subs, vegetarian penne with alfredo sauce. For dinner: build-your-own
fajitas.
Quotable: "I have no idea." - Wally Buono when asked how much time was
left in a particular practice period as he knocked a water-logged
stopwatch against his hand.
Dropping by: Miami Dolphins scout Brian Gaine stopped by camp Tuesday morning.
Next Up: Wednesday, June 4 - two sessions (8:30 am - 11:00 am & 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm)
Note: Due to the rain Tuesday, the Lions will move Wednesday's
morning session to the artificial turf at W.J. Mouat Secondary School
(32355 Mouat Dr.).
