BC LIONS TRAINING CAMP REPORT – DAY 9

(Vancouver) The Lions returned to the practice field for Day Nine of
training camp following their annual Fan Fest and controlled scrimmage
played in front of 6,500 fans on Sunday afternoon. Head coach Wally
Buono and his staff managed to get a very productive workout in Monday
morning before the skies opened up and a 30-minute downpour ensued –
conveniently timed to coincide with media availability.
Among the standouts, quarterback Buck Pierce enjoyed a crisp set of
reps in both no-huddle and team periods as did slotback Adam Nicolson.
Not to be outdone on defence was defensive back Reggie Myles who
notched an interception and the slim and trim version of DL Brent
Johnson who dropped into coverage and made a terrific play to knock
down a pass.
The second tussle of camp took place Monday with a few combatants along
the offensive and defensive line exchanging more than just phone
numbers. In an ironic twist, OL Jason Jimenez diffused the situation by
offering Cam Wake a piggyback ride which surprisingly covered about 20
yards.
The steady rain continued through lunch and the middle of the afternoon
resulting in the cancellation of the team’s afternoon practice. In what
could be described as the understatement of Raining Camp 2008, the
announcement was well received by players; either that or So You Think
You Can Dance was shoot an episode in the dressing room at Columbia
Bible College.
