CAMERON WAKE EARNS PLAYER OF THE MONTH KUDOS

(Vancouver) The Canadian Football League announced its Player of the Month winners for September this morning and Lions defensive lineman Cam Wake has received the unanimous nod as Defensive Player of the Month.
Wake has terrorized opposition quarterbacks to the tune of 18 sacks through 13 games – including a career-high four in the Lions’ victory over the Tiger-Cats on September 6th – to remain perched comfortably atop the CFL sack list with double that of his closest competitor (teammate Brent Johnson – 9). The reigning Most Outstanding Defensive Player & Most Outstanding Rookie has racked up nine sacks and 25 tackles in the past four games alone and has recorded 56 defensive tackles and three forced fumbles on the season. No stranger to CFL player of the week awards, Wake picked up Defensive Player honours in Weeks 2, 11 and 14 and also received the CFL Defensive Player of the Month nod for July.
Presenting a compelling case for the West Division Most Outstanding Player vote, Cam needs two sacks to become just the 13th player in CFL history to reach 20 in a season and remains within striking distance of the CFL record held by former Lion James ‘Quick’ Parker (26.5).
