CFL Announces 2006 Schedule

The BC Lions Football Club will kick-off the 2006 CFL regular season with an old-fashioned catfight as the Jason Maas-led Hamilton Tiger Cats come to town on Friday, June 16th. The rest of the extremely fan-friendly 2006 Lions home schedule includes five more Friday night tilts and three Saturday night games.
The Lions will have two cracks at the current Grey Cup-champion Edmonton Eskimos on Friday, June 30th and Saturday October 21st. West Division rivals Winnipeg Blue Bombers visit on Friday, August 18th, while the resurgent Calgary Stampeders come calling on Friday, October 6th. The Lions close out the regular season versus the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday, October 28th. East Division champion Montreal Alouettes play the Lions on Friday, July 14th, with Ottawa making its lone stop in Vancouver on Friday, August 4th. Toronto caps off East Division visitors with a match-up on Saturday, September 16th.
“We are very pleased with the 2006 schedule and I believe our fans will be too. With games falling on Friday and Saturday nights, I think we've done a great job at offering the kind of schedule Lions supporters have indicated they prefer,&rdquo said President and CEO Bob Ackles.
“I'm thrilled with the home schedule,&rdquo said Lions General Manger and Head Coach Wally Buono. “From a player and fan standpoint, the consistency of playing on Friday and Saturday nights is great, and playing four of our last five home games against West Division opponents will be very exciting,&rdquo he added.
The Lions will face off against the Calgary Stampeders twice in the pre-season starting at home on Friday June 2nd and then traveling to Calgary on Thursday June 8th.
