FELIONS FOCUS...KAREN

Hey Lions fans….Who’s ready to cheer on our Leos to another championship season?  It’s Karen here from the Felions Dance team and I know I am.

I’ve had the honour of dancing on the sidelines for three seasons, cheering on our favourites in orange and black. We are lucky enough to have the best seats in the house to watch Jarious’ big plays, Stefan Logan’s quick feet and Geroy break records every game. Not many things compare to the roar of the crowd after a touchdown.

I have a background in a more traditional style dance of highland and Irish dancing, but love performing for a hometown crowd. I live in Vancouver but I’m originally from a small town on the island, and keep my heart there for sure.

I try and enjoy the simple things with friends and family. I love being outside and getting dirty, hiking, surfing and trail riding are at the top of my list, and if I can drag a friend along the grind…bonus. Travelling is another must. Driving through Montana watching the sunrise or drinking wine in a French vineyard, nothing beats the experience of new places.

Being on the Felions Dance Team is something I am really proud of and wouldn’t trade for anything. We are very involved in community events and get the chance to meet people and do things that we normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to.

Having 32 other girls to laugh and share all the different experiences with is rare and I’m certainly thankful for it. I can’t wait to see what this season brings for us and hope it doesn’t go by too fast.

So when you see us on the sidelines join in and cheer on a great team of dancers and players…just not on offense…ha ha.
