(Vancouver)  Following a thrilling come-from-behind 36-34 win over the visiting Montreal Alouettes last Friday night, receiver Paris Jackson and running back Ian Smart have earned CFL Player of the Week honours for Week 5 as the Canadian Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week respectively.

Currently sitting fifth among receivers with 23 catches for 410 yards and a touchdown, Paris Jackson notches his second consecutive Canadian Player of the Week award after collecting five catches for 124 yards in Friday’s contest – including a dazzling 43-yard TD in the fourth quarter.  Jackson also drew a 24-yard pass interference call on Montreal’s Davis Sanchez to set up a one-yard plunge by Joe Smith in the third quarter.

Reigning CFL Outstanding Special Teams Player Ian Smart collects his first Player of the Week honours of the 2008 season, returning a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown on the last play of the third quarter to spark the Leos’ comeback win on Friday night.  No stranger to CFL Player of the Week awards, Smart was named the Special Teams Player of the Week on three occasions in 2007 (Weeks 7, 12, & 16).

The Lions travel to Edmonton this Thursday night to take on the Eskimos in the first game of a home-and-home series at 7:00 pm (PT).  Catch all the action live on the TEAM 1040 beginning with the pre-game show at 6:00 pm.
