The BC Lions Football Club announced today that quarterback Travis Lulay has signed a contract extension. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not released.
Lulay wrapped up his second year with the Lions in 2010, recording a 4-5 record as the club’s starting quarterback including a three-game winning streak that propelled the Lions into the playoffs for a 15th consecutive season. In a must-win final regular season game versus the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on November 2nd, Lulay threw for 424 yards on 30 completions with two TD’s to claim CFL Offensive Player of the Week honours.
“Travis’ growth at quarterback puts our club in position to win a championship in 2011,” said Lions GM and head coach Wally Buono. “His ability to lead the offence and perform in the pressure situations we played in last year down the stretch and into the playoffs should give our team and our fans a lot to be excited about.”
Finishing the season good on 205 of 318 attempts for 2,602 yards and nine touchdowns, Lulay led the Lions into Regina for the West Semi-Final on November 14th and threw for 357 yards and two touchdowns in the Leos’ double overtime loss to the eventual West Division champions.
Memorable Moments in 2010
“This is a very exciting day for me and it’s difficult to express how proud I am to be extending my time with the club,” said Lulay. “I have enjoyed every second that I’ve have spent in BC and I know we have a team that is capable of some great things. I’m thrilled to be part of this organization and our fans can be assured that we’ll do all we can to bring the Grey Cup home where it belongs in 2011.”
