Lions ink linebacker Lowry

(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club announced today that linebacker David Lowry has signed with the club. Terms of the deal were not released.
Lowry was the Lions' third pick (3rd round, 25th overall) in the 2005 Canadian College Draft and attended training camp last year before returning to the University of Alberta for his final year of eligibility. He followed up his 2004 Canada West Defensive Player of the Year campaign with a 46-tackle, 2-sack performance over seven games in 2005.
“David is a talented young player who has been a part of resurgent program at Alberta. Having the experience of one camp under his belt, I expect him to come in and compete for a spot on our roster,&rdquo said Lions' general manager and head coach Wally Buono.
