Travis Moore enters his third season with the Lions as the team’s receivers coach after spending his first full season as an offensive assistant and running backs coach with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2009.
Travis headed up a unique collection of veterans and relative newcomers in 2011 resulting in an exciting and productive year. Veteran slotback Geroy Simon finished second overall in receiving yards with 1,350 which also earned him a CFL All- Star nod. Budding stars Shawn Gore, Akeem Foster, Marco Iannuzzi and Kierre Johnson also enjoyed breakout campaigns.
Bringing substantial experience to his role with the Leos after enjoying a stellar 11-year career as a receiver, Travis amassed 645 career receptions, 9,930 yards and 79 touchdowns with the Calgary Stampeders (1994, 1996-2002) and the Saskatchewan Roughriders (2003-05).
He was named a CFL and West Division All-Star three times and currently sits 14th on the CFL’s all-time receiving yards list. He captured two Grey Cup championships with the Stampeders in 2001 and 1998. Moore also played with the NFL’s New Orleans Saints in 1995 and the XFL’s San Francisco Demons in 2001.
Travis began his coaching career as a guest coach with the NFL’s New Orleans Saints in 2007 before catching on as wide receivers coach for the AFL’s New Orleans Voodoo. Moore was also a guest coach at the Montreal Alouettes training camp in 2008.
Travis along with his wife Stephanie and family live year-round just across the border in Blaine, Washington.
