The BC Lions selected Daniel in the first round (4th overall) of the 2021 CFL Draft. He signed his first Lions contract on January 17, 2024.
Highlights:
2022: Daniel signed with the Buffalo Bills and would appear in three pre-season contests while recording three tackles and one sack. Released by Buffalo at the end of training camp.
College:
2020: After transferring from Penn State as a graduate student, Daniel appeared in 11 contests, started eight, and led the team with 6.5 sacks — tied for eighth in the ACC. Daniel also registered 10 tackles for loss out of 37 total tackles in 2020.
2017-2019: At Penn State, Daniel played in 32 games, registered 29 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one each of forced fumble and pass break up in three seasons.
Personal:
Daniel also played as a tight end in high school. He caught eight touchdowns as a junior and was a two-way player in his senior year. Daniel had 72 tackles, 25 tackles for loss and two interceptions on the d-line, while hauling in 10 receiving touchdowns at tight end. The former high school varsity football and basketball standout is the brother of Faith Ekakite, former Winnipeg Blue Bombers No. 1 pick in 2017 and the cousin of former Lion, Ese Mrabure-Ajufo in 2015.
