2012:  Akeem became a fixture in the starting lineup in 2012 and an essential member of the club’s receiving corps. He started 16 times in 2012 and registered a season-high five catches for 72 yards vs Calgary on Jul 28/12. Akeem racked up three receptions for 30+ yards and had at least one catch in 15 games.

2011:  Akeem’s first full season on the Lions’ active roster was an outstanding success, as he became a regular right out of training camp. Starting 16 games and finishing fourth on the team with 593 receiving yards on 33 receptions, Akeem made his catches count, as he scored six TDs including one in each of the season’s first three games.  He also posted career-highs of eight receptions and 144 yards on Sep 2/1 at Toronto.

2010-2012:  Akeem joined the Lions via the 2010 CFL Draft and made the club out of training camp. After one week on the practice roster and another as a reserve, Akeem dressed for nine straight games as backup wide receiver and on special teams.

Since then he has played 42 regular season games with 61 catches for 949 yards, nine TDs and one 100-yard game. He has an astonishing nine TDs or one every 6.8 receptions.

Akeem enjoyed a standout final season at St. Francis Xavier in 2009, hauling in 48 catches for 748 yards and six touchdowns. The lofty numbers earned him First-Team All-Canadian status from the CIS.

As a junior in 2008, he led the team in receiving, ranked first in the AUS in yards per catch (17.9) and was second overall in the conference in receptions (32), reception yards (574) and receiving yards per game (82.0 average). In addit
ion to holding the conference record for the longest play from scrimmage (99 yards), he was named an AUS Offensive All-Star in 2008 and participated in the 2009 CIS  East West Bowl.

Akeem was a Sociology major in university and holds the conference record for the longest play from scrimmage with a 99-yard TD strike. He didn’t start playing football until the age of 19 and drew inspiration from former Toronto Argonauts Derrell “Mookie” Mitchell and Michael “Pinball” Clemons.

Akeem makes his off-season home in Ajax, Ontario and stays busy working out and spending time with family and friends. He lists Bob Marley as his favourite musical artist, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air  as his favourite TV show and enjoys reading any book written by Langston Hughes.
