Westerman was selected by the Lions in the first round (second overall) of the 2012 Canadian Draft following an outstanding college career at Eastern Michigan.
2012: Jabar had a standout rookie season after the Lions traded up to the second overall position in the Canadian Draft to obtain his rights. He delivered in a big way during his first CFL campaign as a top reserve and stepped into the starting lineup when injuries sidelined veterans. Jabar played in all 18 games with five starts and recorded 14 tackles, four sacks and a pass knockdown.
For his efforts, Jabar was selected as the West Division’s Most Outstanding Rookie, the Lions’ eleventh such honour in the past 16 years. His finest game came vs Winnipeg on Aug 24/12 when he had three tackles, a pair of sacks and a pass knockdown.

2010-2011: Jabar appeared in 23 games at Eastern Michigan over two seasons. The Florida native recorded 48 tackles, nine for a loss and 5.5 sacks to go along with three QB hurries and one fumble recovery.
Before transferring to Eastern Michigan in 2010, he graduated from Dodge City Junior College in Kansas where he notched 10 tackles for a loss, and earned an All-Conference selection.
Jabar lives in Brampton, Ontario, where he moved to with his family at the age of 10 from Florida. He has two brothers, Jamaal and Jawann, who both played football at Rutgers University. Jamaal now plays for the Miami Dolphins of the NFL.
Although he played football for just one year in Florida, Jabar started playing seriously only in high school. He says the highlight of his football career to date was winning a championship in his final year of college.
Off the field, Jabar can be found reading the Harry Potter series, cooking, or playing basketball. His favourite movie is The Wood, and he likes to watch Family Guy on TV.
